Our Story
Model UN Academy was envisioned by Momin Ahmed, who recognized the significance of the global issues that were changing the world and affecting people on a local, national, and international scale. When he voiced his concerns to his friends, Momin was stunned by how little they knew about these significant topics.
Determined to bridge this gap, Momin realized that Model UN- a popular extracurricular activity that simulates the United Nations- was the perfect way to educate students about vital topics. He began writing and sharing original guides about Model UN and sending them to local schools for free. When these schools responded enthusiastically, Momin realized the transformative power of Model UN and how his experience could help other students.
Inspired by his early success, Momin began writing more guides, putting together examples, and hosting online webinars for students all around the country, leading to the creation of Model UN Academy.
What began as a movement to educate students about global issues locally suddenly transformed into a broader mission for education, diversity, and collaboration. Momin recruited students from all around the world to help him in his mission, leading to the establishment of over a dozen Model UN Academy chapters. Today, Model UN Academy educates students from around the globe in over 100 different languages for free, connecting youth of all cultures, nationalities, and economic classes to global networks and resources.
